Common questions

Piling questions answered.

What size and depth of pile can VIC PILING install?

Bored piers from 300 mm to 2,100 mm diameter, to 40 m depth. Steel screw piles up to 1,050 mm diameter, to 45 m depth. Rock socketing through basalt and granite is routine on our rotary rigs.

Do you work on tier-1 civil and infrastructure jobs?

Yes — that's the core of our work. Principal contractors including APA, CPB, ExxonMobil, Fulton Hogan, John Holland, Lendlease, Nacap, NAP and RIA engage us regularly for energy, rail, roads, commercial and marine projects across Victoria.

How quickly can you mobilise?

For tender-awarded works, typical mobilisation is 5-10 working days once a site possession and service proving are confirmed. Shutdown windows and emergency piling can be accelerated — call us.

Do you provide AS 2159 compliant documentation?

Every job. Full design, torque / pour records, founding-stratum logs, as-built and chartered-engineer certification — delivered the day the last pile is installed.

Can you design as well as install?

Yes. Our in-house engineering and our long-standing geotech partners design pile systems to your structural loads and soil conditions, AS 2159 compliant, peer-reviewed when required.

Do you operate in contaminated or live plant environments?

Yes. Permit-to-work systems, gas / process area inductions, spotters and full PPE protocols — we work inside live gas and chemical plants under tier-1 principal contractors' safety management systems.

What about rock, granite or hard ground?

We drill through it. Our heavy rotary rigs and rock augers have socketed into basalt across the western volcanic plain, granite in the highlands and mudstone across Melbourne's east. Founding capacity is verified per pier.

Do you handle sheet piling and cofferdams?

Yes. Press-in and vibrated sheet piling, temporary and permanent cofferdams, for marine, water-crossing and deep basement projects across Victoria.

What insurance do you carry?

$20M public and products liability, WorkCover Victoria, plant and professional indemnity. Certificates of currency issued on request to principal contractors.

Do you work outside metropolitan Melbourne?

Yes — regional Victoria is a core part of our work. Gippsland, Latrobe Valley, Geelong, Bellarine, Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton and the Western District are all regular territory for us.

Can you accommodate our SWMS, inductions and principal safety systems?

Always. Our HSEQ crew work to principal contractor requirements on every job — site-specific SWMS, online inductions, permit-to-work, high-risk work licences and pre-start inspections are embedded in how we operate.

Do you pull existing piles or remove temporary works?

Screw piles and sheet piling can be extracted. Bored piers are permanent once placed. Decommissioning scopes are quoted separately.
